Yet Another Teacher Having Sex With Teen

This is one of the reasons why we homeschool our children. I can't tell if there are more adult predators on the prowl in the schools, or if kids and their parents do the right thing these days and tell authorities instead of keeping everything hush-hush. What do you think?

Black Homeschoolers on NPR

Today there was a very interesting story about black homeschooling on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday. It is yet more insight into why black families are decided to homeschool in such large numbers.

Blacks are currently the fastest growing homeschool minority. Our numbers have swelled to 140,000 African-American homeschooled children nationally.

Our New Social Network

In the next two weeks we will be rolling out a brand new social networking site for our members and for anyone else who wishes to join.

Homeschoolers will be able to join for free, create a profile, upload pictures of their homeschooling children, author a blog, share video, start groups and participate in our forums.

This new social networking site will be essential for learning from black homeschoolers in your backyard and around the country and even around the world.
Look for the new social networking site accessible from the homepage in early September.

NAAHA's in Mothering Magazine

An article I wrote about black homeschooling is currently in the January/February 2007 issue of Mothering.

I have yet to see it since the stores that carry it locally still have the last issue on their newsstands. I'm anxious to see it as I've always wanted to be published in such a wonderful magazine. This is truly an honor and dream come true for me.

If you heard about NAAHA through Mothering, let me know what you think. Or, if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. You can either leave me a comment or contact me via email at jjames at mommytoo dot com.

Black Bloggers Who Homeschool

If you homeschool and also blog, we want to hear from you! Blogs are a wonderful tool to connect with parents who are much like yourself -- believers in quality education.

If you have a blog and would like it added to our growing list of black homeschooling blogs, please send us your URL along with a brief description of your online journal and we'll post it on our homepage. Want to read other black homeschooling blogs? Visit our homepage for links at www.naaha.com.

Black Homeschoolers in Mothering, Black Enterprise

I was recently told that an article I wrote about black homeschoolers will be published in the January/February 2007 issue of Mothering magazine. Look for it on newsstands early next year.

Also, I will be interviewed by Black Enterprise about the growing black homeschooling movement.

I'm excited about the continuing coverage of black families who educate their children at home. It makes it far easier for black families to make educational choices that are best for their family.

Teach Your Child to Read

I taught both of my daughters to read using Hooked on Phonics. I cannot recommend it enough. It's comprehensive and really works. Want to learn more about Hooked on Phonics? Click below.
